Five Day Ice Challenge brought to you by: http://www.coolersonsale.com

We tested the top names in the high end roto-molded cooler industry to see just how long they could hold ice. Is it worth spend the extra $100+ to get that name brand cooler? Our results may change your mind.

All coolers were pre chilled for 24 hours prior to the test beginning.

Coolers Tested:
▶Yeti Tundra 45: http://amzn.to/1WDaRfh
▶Grizzly Coolers 40 Q: http://amzn.to/1Tf7bAt
▶Engel Deep Blue Series 50 Q: http://amzn.to/1Tf7fjK
▶Pelican ProGear Elite 45Q: http://amzn.to/1WDaWQ6
▶Igloo Sportsman Series 40Q: http://amzn.to/1Tf7lIh
▶Igloo Sportsman Series 55Q: http://amzn.to/1ZIM9dj
▶Canyon Coolers Outfitter Series 35Q: http://amzn.to/1WDb9mv
▶Siberian Coolers 85 Q: http://amzn.to/1WDbdT7
▶Orca Coolers 58Q: http://amzn.to/1WDbx4g

Results: As you’ll see in the video, some of the more expensive coolers such as Yeti and Grizzly did not hold ice as long as Pelican and Engel. Therefore we cannot say that spending that extra money on a name brand cooler (unless you are after than name brand only) is not worth it when it comes to ice retention. Watch for day by day progression over the five days of how each cooler performed. Below is a list of the results from top to bottom of best performing:

2.Pelican ProGear Elite 45Q: http://amzn.to/1WDaWQ6

Who would do one of these over a 12V fridge? The Engels go on sale and the price is in the same range as these.

Which ones are manufactured in the USA so I know what to shop for? And don't answer designed here in America but manufactured in China.

Austin Scott says:

I’ve got the yeti 45, I can’t grab a bag of hollow ice at a gas station and throw in a hot cooler. It won’t last longer than lunch time. If I go to our high end ice box in town and out my cooler under the slot and let it fill it up rather than get a bag and poor myself I can get a weekend out of it. I’m in Alabama. I’d say the quality of the ice is a big thing. Also they recommend you get a sacrificial bag of ice to keep the cooler cool before your fishing trip or work day or what have you. I think for the price it shouldn’t take that much. It definitely a top of the line cooler compared but for the money it’s not worth it. Cool review👍🏻

why did you not include the RTIC in your test?

JandK Benton says:

Need to add the cabelas cooler in the mix! I absolutely love ours because when we go on our expeditions of a week or more it’s important to have ice for things like diabetic supplies and food for all. We have found it to be incredibly good at holding ice and it’s extremely rugged to boot.
